Product Overview

vProtect is an enterprise backup solution for virtual environments, containers and cloud. It is able to backup virtual machines (VMs) running on variety of platforms: Citrix XenServer, Xen, RHEV, oVirt, KVM, Proxmox, Nutanix AHV, Kubernetes, AWS EC2, OpenShift. vProtect enables VM-level data protection and can function as a standalone solution or integrate with enterprise backup software.

vProtect provides a wide range of features to extend data protection capabilities for the above advanced virtualization platforms.

Choose your backup destination

A file system is the most flexible and simplest to implement kind of storage. Given the fact, that you can mount most of the remote or local types of storage as a file system, you can easily use vProtect as a stand-alone solution. To boost the backup process, you also can use the same file system both as a staging-space and a backup destination, which allows you to write data once directly to the target location. And if the storage space is limited, vProtect can use a deduplicated file system such as VDO or DD-Boost FS plugin.

Amazon S3 is object storage built to store and retrieve any amount of data from anywhere – backup systems, websites and mobile apps, corporate applications, and data from IoT sensors or devices.
S3 provides security and compliance capabilities that meet regulatory requirements. It also gives flexibility in the way they manage data for cost optimization, access control, and compliance.
S3 provides query-in-place functionality, allowing you to run powerful analytics directly on your data at rest in S3. Amazon S3 is the most supported cloud storage service available, with integration from the largest community of third-party solutions. Combining it with vProtect by Storware makes perfect sense to use both solutions to protect and store data.
With infinite capacity, Google Cloud Storage allows you to store data safely and cost-efficiently (with available storage tiers). With vProtect you can store your application or VM backups like in any other backup provider completely transparently.
ExaGrid provides the best level of data deduplication and has implemented data deduplication in a way that provides 6X the backup performance and up to 20X the restore and VM boot performance of other approaches. ExaGrid has a unique landing zone where backups can land straight to disk without any inline deduplication processing. Backups are fast and the backup window is short. Deduplication and offsite replication occur in parallel with the backups and never impede the backup process as they are always second order priority.

Dell EMC NetWorker is a backup software platform for the enterprise. NetWorker is designed to back up data from a variety of systems across an organization. The software can create backups of data on SAN, NAS, and DAS systems as well as physical and virtual servers to a variety of backup targets including tape drives and libraries, virtual tape libraries, disk arrays, deduplicating disk systems, and cloud storage. To increase the number of hypervisors you can backup with NetWorker we integrated it with vProtect.

HybriStor delivers everything needed in a secondary storage appliance, including deduplication across sites, replication to multiple sites and WAN optimization between sites. This appliance can globally dedupe your data by rates of up to 30x – moving your backup, archive and recovery data off expensive primary storage and onto high-performance, low-cost secondary storage.
